Excessive Sleeping Disorder


Excessive sleeping is a health problem affecting millions of people all over the world. It is characterized as excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS). It is different from feeling tired during the day. Stimulants and behavioral modification may help relieve the symptoms. The Food and Drug Administration has approved two stimulants (armodafinil and modafinil) for treating excessive daytime sleepiness. Indeed, they are costly and long-term safe is not yet determined. People are more likely to prefer having insomnia than hypersomnia.
